Muscle energy techniques

Muscle energy technique (MET) is a manual therapy technique that involves a patient contracting muscles while a therapist applies resistance.  The therapist shall stretch a muscle to a point of bind and in that position shall ask the client to contract against the stretch and hold the contraction for a period of time. The therapist shall repeat the technique and with every repetition achieving a greater range of movement of the muscle in question. MET is used to treat muscular dysfunction, improve range of motion, and reduce pain .

Soft tissue release

Soft tissue release (STR) is a manual therapy technique that uses pressure and stretching (pin and stretch) to treat muscle, ligament, and tendon issues. It can help with pain, restricted movement, and injuries. The therapist shall manually place the muscle in a contracted shortened position. The therapist then shall add pressure (pin) to a particular location of the muscle and then manually place the muscle in a lengthened stretched position with the pin being maintained.
